Latest OOTP 14 Update Adds Great New Features

The trading deadline may have passed, leaving most teams to win or lose with their current rosters, but we're still busy making improvements. In fact, we just released a new OOTP 14 update (version 14.4.23), that adds many new features to a lineup that was already among the most formidable in the sports management games genre.

Just take the word of Jonah Falcon, who wrote in his review of OOTP 14 at GameStooge: "Out of the Park Baseball 14 continues to be the premiere baseball simulation, and one of the best of any sport, alongside such games as Football Manager."

Hit our website or click the "Check for update" option in the Game menu to download this update, which offers:

"Civilization V" Designer Jon Shafer Discusses
OOTP's 'Unique Unfairness'

"The 'unfairness' of OOTP really is fairly unique compared with other games," says Jon Shafer, who was the lead designer of the hit strategy game Civilization V and who is now developing his own game. "Most big titles these days lead players by hand and make sure nothing bad happens. It's refreshing to play something which slaps you around a little bit, and without sympathy tells you to get back up for more."

He adds: "The great thing about sports is that you never really know what's going to happen … In my opinion, an experience isn't truly rewarding unless there's the possibility of failure."

Check out our latest article to learn more about Shafer's OOTP observations and experiences, including his come-from-behind late-season run while managing a team in the online New City Baseball League.

Enjoy the pennant runs!
